Trevone House offers a new and innovative model of care for young people moving onto independence. It’s a ground-breaking project that has been designed with care experienced young people for young people in care. It offers a safe place, for young people to live, but also a place of calm for young people at times of crisis or distress. Gloucestershire County Council have invested over £2.5 million to transform the building, providing young people with an environment where they are inspired to live and grow.
Homes2Inspire are excited to be working in partnership with Gloucestershire County Council and their partners, to deliver this new model of care which really does have young people at the heart of everything.
It is our ambition to make Trevone House a home, where young people choose to live, because they feel valued, respected and cared for. We will change national practice for independent accommodation that supports young people as they prepare to leave care.
Model of Care
Our Model of Care begins by understanding each young peoples journey – how many schools they have been to, the number of social workers and professionals within their lives, and how many placements, missing episodes or contacts with the police they have experienced. We want to understand our young people and work in a trauma informed way that supports them, rather than judge them or exclude them.
Accommodation
Trevone House will offer the following accommodation:» 4 x 2 bed flats » 13 x 1 bed studios/flats Up to 21 young people will have their own accommodation at Trevone House. The young people will be aged 16 and over, with their own self-contained facilities. The accommodation will be designed to offer dignity, privacy and safety to the resident young people. The accommodation will be registered with the appropriate authorities, and will offer a range of accommodation facilities appropriate to the assessed needs of the resident young people, most of whom will have low to medium levels of need. There are limits placed on the number of young people who can be housed within the accommodation and limits on the amount of young people with higher level needs that can be housed there. All of the young people who live in Trevone House as residents will have a planned move into the
accommodation.
Well-Being Suite (Place of Safety/Place of Calm)
Sometimes, young people need a safe place to stay when their needs are more intense. Trevone House will offer this place of safety, and will be accessed by accompanied young people whose needs have been assessed appropriately. The Health accommodation will be managed as a separate area to the other services and accommodation in Trevone House. The service will support young people to integrate back into the community following a hospital admission. This will reduce the time spent in hospital; reducing the need to take up space in general wards and can provide a place of calm when in crisis.
