Homes2Inspire are the proud provider of a 10 year contract for Nottinghamshire County Council, providing homes for children who are not able to live with their families. As the contract is coming to end in March 2025, Nottinghamshire County Council want to ensure that any new contract is informed directly by the children and young people who know how it feels to live in residential care.
Rather than settle for the usual engagement questionnaire, Nottinghamshire CC took a much more engaging and bold approach. In line with their Nottinghamshire Approach to Participation, commissioning staff created the Residential Reflections Project in collaboration with existing commissioned services, young people and YSP Media. Over a series of workshops, children and young people were given the opportunity to share their experiences of living in care. Through words, art, Lego and media, they told us their stories. They explained what they like, what needs to change in the places they live and the people who care for them. They even went a step further and created a short film which can be used across the workforce to support professional understanding of what is important for our children in care, and inform how we shape future services.

Homes2Inspire are proud and privileged that several of the children and young people we care for feature in this video. Not only do their voices feature, but they also created the art and animations, recorded, produced and edited it!
Thank you to all who contributed to this reflective session, and to all our young people who helped put together this amazing film.
